We Aren't Strangers- Join us on Thursdays night at 6:30pm for a meal and for a safe place to find community and belonging. It will be a time for connection, belonging, sharing our stories, expressing our emotions, and the great thing about this event will be that it is open to all people. This is a space where all people can be fed physically, emotionally, and spiritually while at the same time honoring everyone’s faith traditions and gifts and light that we all bring to this community. And we promise that we will not try to convert you or change you. That is not the way we do things here. All we want to do is to know you, love you, and support you as a student here at Texas Tech. Our conversations will be participant lead and all people who attend have a space to teach us about their gifts, interests, passions, faith, philosophy, life, and journey. Come a join us! We meet at Canterbury House at 2407 16th Street, just one block from campus.

Chronicles of Narnia Movie Night - Join us on March 25 at 6:30pm for our second movie night of the semester. We will watch "The Chronicles of Narnia" and eat a traditional British Meal of steak and ale pie, neeps and tatties, and sticky toffee pudding. We will also have some Turkish Delight as well! We will meet at 2407 16th Street at Canterbury House. Please RSVP to 575-631-5345 if you are planning on coming.

Rite of Reconciliation Office Hours - During the season of Lent, it is customary for people to participate in the sacrament of confession. In the Episcopal Church, we call this sacrament the Rite of Reconciliation or the Reconciliation of a Penitent. Speaking our deepest thoughts, fear, and missteps to another person if freeing, healing, and holy. If you would like to pursue this sacrament, today is a good day to do it, though the priest is always available to perform this sacrament. With that said, the priest will be available all morning to meet with Texas Tech students. It is best to make an appointment a couple of weeks ahead of time, but you are also free to walk in at any point before the 6:00pm service. The chaplain will get to the building at 9am. More information about the sacrament is given below: The Reconciliation of a Penitent is one of the sacramental rites of the Episcopal Church (BCP, p. 860). Through reconciliation, penitents are restored to full fellowship in the Christian community and may receive “the assurance of pardon and the grace of absolution” (BCP, p. 861). The BCP provides two forms for the Reconciliation of a Penitent (pp. 447-452). After the penitent has confessed all serious sins and given evidence of contrition, the priest gives counsel and encouragement and pronounces absolution. Prior to giving absolution, the priest may assign a penance which is to be said or done by the penitent as a sign of penitence and an act of thanksgiving for God's forgiveness (BCP, p. 446). For example, the penitent may be assigned a psalm, prayer, or hymn to say or an act of reparation to make. Sacramental reconciliation is available to all. Confessions may be heard at any appropriate time or place. The secrecy of a confession is morally absolute for the confessor (BCP, p. 446).
Taizé Contemplative Prayer Service with Rite of Healing - Join us for a Taizé Contemplative Prayer Service and Healing Service at 6pm at Canterbury Episcopal Campus Ministry at Texas Tech. This service will include contemplative chants as well as a service of healing and anointing, also known as the sacrament of unction. The sacrament of unction is a sacred and holy act. Those who are sick in body, mind, or spirit or those who are seeking prayers on behalf of another and welcome to participate. Our address is 2407 16th Street. We are located just one block east of campus. We will share a home cooked meal served by the wonderful Episcopalians from St. Paul's, St. Stephen's, St. Christopher's, and St. Luke's. We look forward to worshipping with you!
